SAMPLE -- Searching for Service
A man and a woman are on vacation. He is wandering around with his cell phone trying to get a signal. He is frustrated and utters comments and grunts under his breath. His wife, who is reading a book or magazine, finally has had enough and speaks up.
Wife -- (with a deep sigh) What is it?
Husband -- What is what?
Wife -- With you!
Husband -- Me?
Wife -- Yes! You’ve been pacing back and forth like a caged animal. Will you sit down and relax?
Husband -- I can’t get a signal.
Wife -- So?
Husband -- All is says is ‘Searching for Service.’ There’s gotta be a cell tower somewhere.
Wife -- Why do you want one?
Husband -- What do you mean?
Wife -- We’re suppose to be on vacation, dear. It wouldn’t hurt for you to turn that thing off once in a while.
Husband -- Turn it off?
Wife -- Yes, turn it off.
Husband -- What if I get an email? How is anybody supposed to get a hold of me?
Wife -- And just why would they? Don’t they know you’re on vacation?
Husband -- Well … yes, but …
Wife -- Didn’t your boss let you go on vacation?
Husband -- Of course he did, but …
Wife -- Are you so important that the world will stop spinning on its axis if you are unreachable?
Husband -- Of course not, but …
Wife -- Are you more interested in talking to people at your work than with me?
Husband -- No, no, no, no! It’s just that …
Wife -- Then why don’t you just set the phone down on the table, sit here next to me and enjoy your vacation?
Husband -- Yes, dear.
