SAMPLE -- Prayer Warrior
Four women are standing in a line with their backs to the audience. They are labeled 1,2,3,4. All props mentioned are pantomimed.
Verse One
"You may see her in the grocery with her children" -- 3 turns around and crosses DSR 4 steps, pushing a shopping cart, selecting items from a shelf.
"Or in the city nine to five each working day" -- 1 turns and crosses DSL 4 steps quickly while dialing a cell phone, then holds to ear and ‘talks’
"She’s a mother" -- 2 turns and moves DS rocking a baby in her arms.
"or a teacher" -- 4 turns and crosses DS to a chalk board and begins to write.
"or a woman all alone" -- ALL FREEZE mid action. They should now be in the following order: = 3-2-4-1
"But she’s someone else entirely when she prays" -- All turn to the left 360 degrees until facing the audience. As they turn their arms raise up toward heaven in supplication. Finish the turn and the raising of the arms at the same time.
Chorus
"She’s a Prayer Warrior down on her knees" -- 3 and 4 drop to one knee, clasping hands together and dropping head.
"Wrestling with powers" -- 1 and 2 cross forearms in front of face and step backwards as if being pushed. Make this a struggle.
"and principali …" -- 3 and 4 cross forearms in same manner, leaning backwards slightly.
"… ties" -- All four bring arms sharply down and out to sides.
"Standing in the gap for others" -- 3 and 4 stand, turning back to audience. 2 steps forward and DS of 3, facing audience. 2 raises right hand straight in front of her in an attitude of ‘stop. 1 has done the same in DS of 4.
By the end of this phrase 3 and 2 are back to back as are 1 and 4.
"For her sisters and her brothers" -- All four stretch arms out to sides at shoulder height. Grasp the hand of your partner and turn – to the right – ¾ of a turn. Remember you are back to back. When done 3 and 4 are facing SR. 1 and 2 are facing SL. (2 and 4 are actually facing each other!)
