Moses has just thrown down the 10 Commandments in anger. He has a staff in hand. Pieces of the tablets are strewn about.
Moses -- (XDS to CS rock, kick gently) Broken pieces. (XtoDSL rock. Tap with staff) Broken lives. Have I taken these people from their homes only to have them condemned? Why do I lead them? I have failed these people. Lord, have you chosen wisely? Do you not see that my frailty has revealed their weakness? If I were stronger they would follow. (XSR4) I am a mistake. (Turn DS) I do not doubt you, Lord. Please forgive that thought! It is I. My understand is gone.
(XSR4 looking toward Israelites) Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made gods of gold. They follow the shiniest thing in front of them. (Walk in large circle in shame for Israel) Gold …silver … jewels. (Gesture toward DSR stone) Why do they not see that the stone I carry has life! (XtoDSC stone) The words I have broken on the ground can break the bind that ties them to evil. (XtoDSL stone) These laws shine the light of your fire on their deeds. It reveals the path of righteousness. Through it’s perfection we can find a way to seek perfection.
But they do not understand. They prefer to dance before gods they can see. Gods that bring them nothing but (slowly collapse to one knee) heartache and pain. … sorrow … slavery.
