Three women are sitting on a park bench in exercise clothes. They need to be stuffed to appear obese. They have just finished a walk around the park.
Mabel -- This is it girls. I know I’m going to die. Just scatter my ashes over a field of sweet corn.
Martha -- Sweet corn. Please Mabel, don’t mention sweet corn.
Henrietta -- Sweet, buttery peaches and cream corn on the cob.
Martha -- Don’t forget the salt, Henrietta.
Henrietta -- Ah! Salt.
Mabel -- Quiet girls. My stomach wants to speak.
They all bend toward her stomach.
Martha -- What’s it saying.
Mabel -- (in a spooky voice) Ben and Jerry’s! Oooooooo, Martha take Mabel to Ben and Jerry’s.
Henrietta -- I’m too tuckered out to eat.
Mabel and Martha look at her.
Henrietta -- Okay, maybe not. But I’m too tuckered out to cook.
Mabel -- Amen, sister.
Henrietta -- How many miles did we do today?
Martha -- Two …
Henrietta -- Wow!
Martha -- … thirds
Henrietta -- Two-thirds of a mile? That’s all?
Mabel -- I’m a gonner. I haven’t walked this much since I was on the track team.
Martha -- You were on the track team?
Mabel -- Yep.
Henrietta -- Don’t let her fool you, Martha, she never ran a race in her life.
Mabel -- Have too!
Henrietta -- Chasing Billy Miles around the playground in fourth grade doesn’t count,
